We Believe . . .
Members of the Resurrection Lutheran Church are believers in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian and apostolic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body
and the life everlasting.
Statement of Faith
The Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God to the world that He created. The Bible’s primary purpose is to bring God’s love and powerful presence so that people will be reconciled to God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
God is a personal being who has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, One God, three persons.
People are precious to God...yet sinful by nature. Their sin has separated them from God.
Jesus is God demonstrating His plan to conquer our separation from Him. He is true God and true man, our Savior, who paid the full price for humanity’s sin before God by dying on the cross and rising victoriously from the dead.
The Holy Spirit creates faith in people’s lives, gathers people together as the Church, showers people with His gifts, and through the Word and the Sacraments, empowers believers to live lives marked by Christ’s love.
Salvation: We believe people are rescued from sin through faith in Jesus Christ. This faith comes only from the Holy Spirit as a free gift, worked through the words of the Bible and the Sacraments.
The Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) are God’s activities, combining common elements with the power of His Word to work faith in the lives of those whom He has claimed as His children.
The Church was created by God to be His visible presence in the world. Though made up of imperfect believers, God accomplishes His perfect work through those He has claimed and empowered with the gift of His Spirit and of faith.
Should I go forward to receive Communion?
At Resurrection, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper in the glad profession that the body and blood of Jesus is in, with, and under the bread and wine. Invited to our altar are all who know they are sinners, are sorry for their sins, and want to change their sinful life. If you are not a member of a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod congregation or have a question regarding Holy Communion please speak with the pastor beforehand.
